Brewing: the tavern arts
Not vanilla potions — real drinks, brewed in cauldrons and aged in barrels. Around fifteen recipes exist. We're telling you one. The rest is tavern science.
The process
Cauldron over fire
Water cauldron above a fire or campfire. Throw ingredients in (right-click with them), wait, then scoop with glass bottles. A clock helps — cook time matters to the minute.
Some drinks only
Put the bottle in a brewing stand with glowstone dust in the top slot. Stronger spirits need multiple runs. Beer skips this entirely.
Barrels, wood, years
Build a barrel, stick the bottles inside, and wait in-game years (one year ≈ one Minecraft day). The wood type changes the drink — the same brew ages differently in birch than oak.

Small barrel: place a fence, then stack 8 wooden stairs around it into a barrel shape, and slap a sign on the front reading "Barrel". It clicks into place with a sound when you get it right. Right-click to open.
Bigger barrels exist (planks + stairs). The wood you build with is the wood you age in.
Your first recipe (free), and the rules of quality
Wheatbeer — the starter
3 wheat in the cauldron, cook 8 minutes, no distilling, then age briefly (about 2 years) in a birch barrel. Done well you'll pour a Fine Wheatbeer.
Quality stars
Every step is graded — ingredient counts, cook time, distill runs, aging, wood. Small mistakes make a ★ or ★★ drink (worse effects, uglier name — "Skunky Wheatbeer"), precision makes ★★★. Recipes never fail into nothing; they fail into embarrassment.
Finding the other ~14
Experiment. Ingredients that exist in the world (wheat, sugar cane, apples, berries, cactus, wart...) all want to become something. Write down what you try — a tavern with a secret recipe book is a business. Trade recipes, sell them, guard them.
Being drunk
Drinks have alcohol. Drink enough and your chat slurs, your walk wobbles, and eventually you pass out and wake up somewhere with a hangover (yes, drinking milk helps, and yes, there's a drunk-log-in stagger). It wears off. Your dignity's on its own.
